This is a gorgeous Australian native plant that is an erect, many branched shrub 0.5 - 3m tall, that makes an interesting foliage plant, upper surfaces are grey green with cobwebby hairs and the lower surface is white and densely cottony, the branchlets are also densely white and cottony..

Flowers are produced throughout the year especially after the Summer rains but the major flush is usually from Autumn to Winter and are creamy yellow.

This is hardy in coastal conditions and can also be used as a sand or soil binder and is often used in coastal restoration, windbreaks and erosion control, it is also a fire retardant.

Responds well to pruning and is best done after the major flush of flowering to maintain business and vigour.

Best in well drained sandy loam soil in full sun - a full sun position will ensure strong and vigorous growth otherwise plants will become weak and easily damaged if grown in partial shade.

Native to WA, SA, VIC, NSW and TAS growing along coastal cliffs, dunes, footslopes, hills, plains and second line coast planting.

The Indigenous Australians used the crushed leaves as an insect repellent.

Propagation is straight forward from seed and no pre-treatment is required.
