Great flowers and can grow in wet swampy soils!Myrtaceae species - No shipment to WA or TASThis Australian shrub is endemic to SE parts of Australia, especially in TAS growing in moist to wet swampy soils, in heath, dry sclerophyll forest, in coastal districts and the adjacent ranges.It grows 2 - 5m tall x 1 - 2m wide with papery or corky bark, dense foliage and arching branches and egg shaped leaves 5 - 12mm long x 3 - 7mm wide, the perfumed pale yellow to creamy yellow terminal flower spikes to 5cm long occur in Spring to Summer.This lovely Melaleuca flowers profusely and is nectar rich attracting birds, bees, butterflies and other insects. Best grown in full sun to part shade, can be pruned to shape or desired size, is frost tolerant and doesn't mind being grown in wet soils.Needs adequate Summer moisture to achieve best results.Indigenous Australians used the papery bark as a wrapping for babies, blankets, bandages, roofing and the flower nectar for food.Makes a great garden shrub or tree, Bonsai specimen screen or hedge.This listing is for 100 premium quality seeds shipped on receipt of cleared funds.
