This is an Australian native shrub or small tree, growing up to 5m tall with greyish brown papery bark and leaves 0.4 - 1.5cm long x 1 - 4mm wide with pointed tips and are aromatic when rubbed.
White flowers, sometimes tinged with pink occur in small spikes 10 - 40mm long in Spring to Summer.
Grows naturally in coastal areas of NSW and up the QLD coast in coastal heath and sand.
Makes a great addition to gardens for flowering, attracts bees, birds, butterflies and other insects, can be used as a windbreak, informal screen, bonsai or for land rehabilitation projects.
It is frost and salt tolerant but is drought tender so give adequate water in warmer weather, can be pruned to shape and tolerates a hard prune when necessary.
Best in full sun in sandy moist soil.
