Hardenbergia comptoniana is a purple climbing pea flower is a moderately vigorous climber that can double as either a screen plant or a groundcover, has trifoliate leaves in a deep dark green up to 7.5cm in length and a profusion of purplish blue pea flowers in long sprays in Spring.
It is easily propagated from scarified seed and is hardy in well drained soil in a semi shaded or heavily shaded position and will withstand frost to at least -7°C.
It is often an answer for cover for that difficult area that does not get the sun, and is excellent for a trellis or smaller pergola.
