Grevillea hookeriana - Black Toothbrushes / Hookers Grevillea - 5 seeds
This is a spectacular West Australian upright to spreading shrub from 2.5m to 4m tall with unusual black to deep burgundy toothbrush style flowers (one sided raceme) that grow in clusters as the ends of branches in Winter to Spring. The foliage is dark green are up to 12cm long and can be either entire or deeply lobed. Grevillea hookeriana is non-lignotuberous and is moderately drought and frost tolerant, can also be light pruned to maintain a bushy habit.
Grow in full sun to part shade in well drained soils - it is found naturally growing in heath and shrubland in SW Western Australia.
This is a fantastic and unusual Grevillea and can be used as a feature or as an informal screen or hedge and the flowers are bird, bee and insect attracting.
