A delightful Grevillea named after Sir Joseph Banks who accompanied Captain Cook to Australia. It is a long lived evergreen shrub growing up to 2.5m tall and about 1.5m wide and has a wide distribution in Australia growing from Adelaide and Melbourne in the south to the tropics.
It blooms profusely throughout the year, it has erect, cylindrical flower spikes up to about 18cm long, in this instance bright red.
This species prefers to be away from frost but will grow happily in any but the most alkaline soils.
As with all Grevilleas it produces large quantities of nectar and is very attractive to pollinating birds.
