Gomphrena canescens - Pink Billy Buttons / Batchelor's Buttons - 20 seeds

This Australian native grows as an annual or herbaceous perennial 0.1 - 0.9m tall and is native to WA, NT and QLD, found naturally growing on sandy, lay or skeletal soils on laterite, woodland, rocky slopes, coastal dunes and on disturbed areas.
 
The leaves are linear to narrowly elliptic and small yellow flowers occur between the clusters of papery bracts that are pink, white and purple, fading to white as they age from late Summer to Spring.
 
This is not widely cultivated but it deserves to be for its beautiful flowers.
 
Best grown in an open sunny position in well drained soils that are not allowed to dry out.
 
These seeds are slow to germinate so don't be too hasty to discard trays, just keep soil moist and results will eventually come.
