This is an Australian native tree to 35m tall, forming a lignotuber with Ironbark to small branches that are dark grey to black, deeply furrowed, thick and hard.
 
The juvenile foliage is elliptical to lanceolate 4 - 11cm long x 1.3 - 3cm wide and is grey green to green in colour, adult foliage is lanceolate to falcate 8 - 22cm long x 1 - 2.6cm wide and are glossy or dull green to grey green or glaucous.
 
Flower buds occur in clusters of 3 per umbel, flushed with pink and open up throughout the year to reveal white to pale pink flowers.

Grows naturally in dry sclerophyll forest or woodland on shallow and poorer soils in NSW and VIC.
