Eucalyptus tenuiramis, commonly known as the Silver Peppermint is a small to medium-sized tree to approximately 25m in height that occurs naturally in low hills of SE Tasmania especially in the Derwent River catchment and also the Freycinet Peninsula area.

Bark is smooth throughout, white to light grey or yellowish or with a few partly decorticated basal slabs of rough bark and branchlets are glaucous.  Juvenile growth (coppice or field seedlings to 50cm) show a rounded stem with glaucous foliage and flowers are white.

Eucalyptus tenuiramis is an uncommon, distinctive Eucalypt that grows on very dry, fire prone areas.

It is very closely related to Eucalyptus risdonii (in fact, these two species are extreme forms of a continuum, with Eucalyptus risdonii being a form that does not make the transition to adult foliage).

It is a member of the Peppermint group of species, which also includes Eucalyptus amygdalina, Eucalyptus nitida, Eucalyptus radiata, Eucalyptus coccifera and Eucalyptus pulchella.
