Eucalyptus stricklandii, known as Strickland's Gum or Yellow Mallee Gum, is an attractive small tree growing to 6 - 8m high with showy flowers that occurs naturally between Coolgardie and Norseman in Western Australia.
It has black tessellated bark at the base and smooth reddish-grey or cinnamon bark above, the outer branches are white contrasting with the black base of the trunk. Shiny light grey-green leathery leaves.
The bright yellow flowers occur from Summer and often continue to Autumn.
This is a very drought and frost tolerant tree, flourishing in arid climates and is a robust species, fast growing and shapely. It will grow in sandy or loamy soils and is tolerant of salt-affected soils.
Strickland’s Gum is suitable for street planting, as a shade tree, or as a specimen ornamental tree.
