This Australian native growing as a tree or Mallee to 10m tall, forming a lignotuber and is endemic to WA from NE of Walpole east to Bremer Bay, occurring on dunes and in sandplan heath as an emergent Mallee but may be a stunted tree on slightly wetter or more fertile soils, usually on sandy soils, laterite, low dunes, hills and near swamps.
The bark is rough over the whole of the trunk and branches to 4cm in diameter, fissured longitudinally, fibrous bark held in long flattened strips, grey brown over reddish brown.
The juvenile foliage is ovate to broadly lanceolate 8 - 14cm long x 3 - 6cm wide and are a dull green colour, adult foliage is thick and coarse, lanceolate to slightly falcate 8 - 12.5cm long x 1.8 - 3.5cm wide and are dull to slightly glossy green.
Flower buds occur in clusters of 7 - 15 opening up to reveal creamy white flowers in Spring to Summer.
