The White Peppermint, Eucalyptus from SE Tasmania is a small to medium sized medium growth forest tree that can reach some 20m in height and 8m in width and features smooth bark throughout, yellow to white to grey. Juvenile leaves are linear and green in colour and adult leaves thin and narrow green sometimes white.
Flower colour is white. Extensively cultivated and used as a street tree there is a decided peppermint scent to the leaves when crushed.
Coming from Tasmania as it does it has good cold tolerance and is frost hardy. It likes good moisture (750mm pa) and is at home in poor infertile soils. Can be used as an ornamental or an accent tree, it has good qualities for timber or pulp production.
