This Australian native is endemic to northern Australia growing naturally on skeletal soils over sandstone or quartz, alos on stony hills, gullies and plains.
 
Growing as a Mallee to 2.5m tall or as a tree to 10m tall, the bark is smooth and powdery aging to a dark pink to grey, the trunk has a diameter up to 40cm and dull grey green lance shaped leaves.  
 
Flower buds occur in groups of 7 - 11 in the leaf axils, opening up in Autumn to Winter to reveal creamy white flowers.
