Eucalyptus incerata, commonly known as the Mount Day Mallee is found naturally in the Mount Day area which is a low rainfall area of Southern Western Australia growing to approximately 3 to 4m and 1 to 1.5m wide with a neat erect normally multi-trunked form this species has recently attracted the attention of the floristry industry for its attractive foliage and buds.

It has smooth light grey to coppery bark, the juvenile foliage is petiolate to 11cm by 5cm, in a blue-grey with adult foliage concolourous, glossy olive green to green.  Buds are pendulous, elongated and about 2.5cm by 0.5cm and flowers are creamy yellow.

With its small size, drought resistance and attractive bark, foliage and buds this is a Eucalyptus worth considering in a garden setting in drier localities.  It is also a useful cut foliage species.

Drought resistant, moderately fast-growing with reasonable cold/frost tolerance it likes a well-drained, sandy or gravelly soil at the lower, acidic end of the pH range - from 5.5 to 6.5.
