This is a long lived large tree that grows up to 15m in height that can be single or multi trunked with smooth bark that is white to light grey with scribble marks all over which comes from insect attack, the foliage takes on a silvery grey appearance from a distance in the trees open crown but the leaves are greyish green, glossy and drooping.
Small creamy white flowers occur from Autumn to Spring, the seed capsules that follow are small and only up to 9mm long with valves enclosed below the thick broad flat rim.
 
Eucalyptus haemastoma occurs naturally in woodlands on the central NSW east coast on plateaus and ridge tops just south of Sydney and north to Lake Macquarie, is hardy once established, tolerates a wide range of conditions and has adapted to low nutrient soils, except for heavy shade and excess moisture.
 
The foliage is browsed by Koalas, the nectar rich flowers attract fauna when blooming and hollow logs in old trees are useful to a wide range of animals.
 
Makes a great feature tree in parks and large gardens, is drought and pollution tolerant, can be used as a coastal windbreak, attracts bees, birds, butterflies, other insects and animals.
