Eucalyptus gracilis, commonly known as the White Mallee or Yorrell is a Mallee form Eucalyptus native to relatively dry country from south western New South Wales, north western Victoria, parts of South Australia and the Western Australian goldfields and wheatbelt - a truly huge natural territory!  It grows naturally on sand or orange-brown calcareous loam on limestone on sand dunes, flats and crests of rises.

A small tree to approximately 7m in height and 3m in width, it is normally found as a multi-trunked Mallee form, the bark is rough and persistent up to 2m and then flaking and often bleached smooth white above.  Juvenile foliage is green and 6cm long by 1cm wide, mature foliage is glossy green with conspicuous black oil dots.  The creamy white flowers are produced in the cooler months from Autumn to Spring.

This is a very rugged tree that can take frost to -7°C, drought and saline conditions and prefers light well-drained soils in full sun.
