Eucalyptus elata, commonly known as the River Peppermint, is a slender lignotuberous tree growing to 40m in height with a pendulous habit and narrow leaves, it is occasionally found as a multi-trunked Mallee occurring naturally on alluvial soils associated with creeks of coastal ranges from west of Sydney south to Gippsland in eastern Victoria.In tree form the bark on the lower trunk is rough, compacted, dark grey to black, smooth above with white or cream, pale brown, green or pale grey patches, the branches are very ribbony and in its Mallee form the bark is smooth throughout.Juvenile leaves are lanceolate (spear-shaped) to falcate (sickle-shaped), 3 to 10cm long and 0.5 to 1.5cm wide in a light green. Adult leaves are lanceolate to falcate, 6 to 22cm long and 0.5 to 6cm wide in a consistently glossy green. Flowers are creamy white and appear in Spring and early Summer.It is an excellent and attractive feature tree this is a bird attracting species that can make a good look alike substitute for Corymbia citriodora, the Lemon Scented Gum, in frosty areas.River Peppermint prefers deep, moist, well-drained soils and it is frost hardy and fast growing.This listing is for 100 premium quality seeds shipped on receipt of cleared funds.
