This is a large Australian native tree growing  up to 35m tall, forming a lignotuber, with a wide distribution in eastern Australia in grassy or sclerophyll woodland or forest on shallower or sandy soils of medium fertility, sometimes found in and on the margins of monsoon forest in NSW and QLD.
 
It has linear, grey to green or green lanceolate or falcate 5 -12cm long x 0.6 - 1.7cm wide, adult leaves are narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, dull green to grey green to rarely glaucous and are 5.5 - 18cm long x 0.7 - 2.7cm wide.
 
Flowers occur throughout the year except in February and grow in lots of 7 - 11 buds per umbel opening up to reveal white flowers.
