Eucalyptus cinerea, variously known as Silver dollar gum or Argyle Apple, is one of the most attractive of the Australian foliage Eucalyptus.
This is a small shapely tree growing up to 6 - 9m tall, its principal feature is the delightful aromatic foliage, silver blue in its juvenile phase (it persists alongside the adult foliage) and attractive shape and form.
The bark is rough, fibrous, reddish brown on trunk and larger branches, then smooth and brown red or grey above.
It is a hardy species that can take cold and frost - if it is cut back to the ground by cold it will regenerate from its lignotuber the next Spring and can then re-establish up to 2m in the next season.
Flowers are white and not significant but this is more than made up for by the foliage.
