Dietes bicolor - Yellow Wild Iris - 30 seeds

This South African Native is an evergreen herbaceous perennial that grows up to 1m tall and wide and has a clumping habit with long grass like leaves.  Light yellow flowers with brown spots that are approximately 5cm wide appear throughout the year but in profusion during the Spring and Summer months.
The seed pods that follow are oblong, 1 - 2.5cm long and persist on the stems and open up and expel brown seeds.
 
Best grown in full sun unless planted in hot inland gardens where part shade is best, appreciates plenty of compost and regular watering although it is drought resistant and frost hardy.  
Can also grow on poor soils and establishes quickly so perfect for a quick cover or for areas that are prone to soil erosion.
