Dianella caerulea - Paroo Lily / Blue Flax Lily - 50 Seeds
Dianella caerulea, commonly known as the Paroo or Blue Flax Lily is an Australian native found in the cool moist forests of south east Australia and Tasmania.
Ranging from 25cm to perhaps 1m in height, this perennial species forms clumps of stiff, dark green, strap-shaped leaves and produces panicles of bright blue, arching flowers with bright gold stamens in the summer followed by attractive deep iridescent blue berries that are almost as attractive as the flowers.
Dianella can take full sun to shade but are at their best in moist conditions with some shade and are excellent for rockeries and near water, they are frost tolerant to -7°C and can take almost any soil. This is a very tough plant that is excellent for use in shade gardens and in those awkward shady places under trees.
