Corymbia maculata (formerly known as Eucalyptus maculata), known as the Spotted Gum, is one of the highly distinctive feature trees of the Australian bushland is a medium sized to very tall forest tree reaching 15 - 20m in height.
This grows as a very erect tree it features a long, shaft like trunk and a classical, shapely form, impressive and densely crowned with smooth bark that is spotted or mottled variously in clear blue-grey, pink, cream or a distinctive cinnamon brown, some colours coming from the shedding bark.
Juvenile foliage is a glossy discolorous green, broad and heart shaped, mature foliage is narrower and slightly glossy.
It produces white flowers from Winter to Spring.
Corymbia maculata is a fast growing, windfirm (it makes an excellent high windbreak), smog tolerant, and a good bee/honey tree it is frost hardy to -7°C and drought tolerant it prefers a warm humid to sub-humid climate.
