Another of the popular bottlebrush family, the Stiff Bottlebrush is a medium to large shrub 3m in height and 2.5m in width with a rigid habit making it somewhat less attractive as an ornamental than some other bottlebrush, however it has its advantages.  It has proven to be at least, if not more, frost tolerant than Callistemon citrinus in colder overseas conditions and it is very adaptable, being hardy in a wide range of soils and conditions. 
 
Flower spikes are a vibrant red, 5 to 7cm long and 3 to 4mm wide in the late Spring and Summer, it is nectar producing and a good butterfly species.

As with all Callistemon it is very easy to grow from seed witout the need for any pre-treatment.
