This SE Asian native is an evergreen climber or rambling vine growing 2 - 4m tall x 2 - 4m wide with dainty green bilobed leaves that look like little butterflies! The plant climbs via tendrils so some support is appreciated.
 
The flowers really put on a show over a long period, occurring in clusters from Spring to Summer, they are white and pink with red stamens and are moderately fragrant, the seed pods that follow are flat and purple containing seeds that are greenish in colour and the pods are constricted between the seeds.
 
Best grown in full sun to part shade and perform well in subtropical and tropical climates in most soils. Can be pruned to shape or just to maintain desired height and width an/or shape.
Tolerates light frost.
 
Looks great trained over an arbor, on fences or trelisses and makes also makes a great groundcover, the flowers are prolific and occur over a long period and the pods that follow are also colourful and atttractive.
