This WA native grows 3 - 6m tall with a spreading habit and is found growing naturally on grey or yellow sand, limestone, laterite and granite.
 
It has really interesting greyish green, prickly holly-like leaves with an abundance of rounded pale yellow, brush flowers from Autumn to Spring that are nectar rich, attracting bees, birds, butterflies, other insects and mammals, parrots also love to eat the seeds.
 
Best grown in well drained soils in an open, full sun position.
 
It makes a great garden feature with its interesting foliage and flowers and cut flowers fresh or dried.
