Banksia ashbyi - Ashby's Banksia Tree Form - 10 seeds

This West Australian variety grows up to 8m tall and is non-lignotuberous is evergreen and has a spreading habit, it has blue-grey linear leaves that are 20 - 30cm long x 3cm wide, have deeply serrated margins and deeply lobed. The orange cylindrical terminal flower spike is 15cm long x 8cm wide, these start in the Winter and continue into the Spring, the seeds are enclosed in a woody cone and are retained until the seedpod is burnt.
Grows best in full sun to part shade in well drained soil, is moderately frost and drought tolerant.
Prefers warm temperate, cool temperate or Mediterranean climates and doesn't perform as well in areas of high humidity.
Beautiful as a cut flower, as a tall Banksia specimen for parks, gardens and can also be used as a street tree.
