Atractocarpus fitzalanii syn Randia fitzalanii, commonly known as Native Gardenia, yellow Mangosteen or Brown Gardenia is a tall rainforest shrub from the coastal understory of tropical Queensland.
 
It is an evergreen tree with large, dark green, glossy leaves borne opposite one another with clusters of highly perfumed, small, white, star-shaped to tubular flowers are produced along the stems of female plants in the Spring.  These are followed in the Autumn by large yellow fruit to 10 cm in diameter, which are eaten as a bush tucker food by the Indigenous Australians.
 
Best in tropical and subtropical climates, Native Gardenia prefers a warm, sheltered site in full sun to semi-shade with moist, well-drained, light to medium soil and it is frost tender.
