Antigonon leptopus - Coral Creeper - 20 seed pods
This stunning Mexican native climbing vine has naturalised in some of the wetter parts of northern Australia.
It is a long lived perennial growing to 10m in length with slender stems and spreading by tendrils, producing underground tubers and becomes deciduous in Winter or during the dry season in areas of monsoonal climate.
Light green heart shaped leaved are crinkled and prominently veined and can grow over vegetation or on fences and trellises.
Bright hot pink flowers are produced on terminal racemes or panicles in the Autumn to Winter but can flower throughout the year. Flowers are followed by small brown cone shaped fruit which which floats and can be dispersed via waterways.
This is a great addition for the home garden, looks fabulous on a fence or trellis and attracts many bees and insects.
