Agapanthus orientalis Blue is an evergreen herbaceous perennial with flat, strappy green foliage 2cm wide and approximately 1m long, that has a tidy appearance in the garden, in Summer blue to mauve tubular flowers are held on the tops of stems held above the foliage and make a great feature.
Agapanthus is tolerant of coastal conditions, heat and cold - note that leaves can be damaged by frost.
 
Looks great mass planted in garden beds or as a border and in containers for courtyards or patios.
 
Note - to keep this from spreading into nearby areas or into bushland or parks, remove spent flowers.
Sap can also be a skin irritant, so be cautious and wear gloves when handling.
