Acer ginnala - Amur Maple - 30 Seeds

Acer ginnala, commonly known as the Amur Maple is a deciduous tree or large shrub, 3 to 6m tall and usually multi-stemmed with a rounded, slightly irregular form.  It is noted for its bright red Autumn leaf colour, its Summer colour is green, but is mixed with bright red samaras or 'helicopters' in mid Summer.
 
Amur Maple are native to Central and northern China, Manchuria and Japan are extremely hardy and drought resistant once established.  They leaf out early and cast dense shade and is a vigorous grower that is very tolerant of temperature extremes and can take quite heavy pruning allowing it to be shaped to fit a variety of landscape uses. 
 
It makes an excellent screen or hedge and is a very popular Bonsai subject.  It is best grown in normal garden soil in full sun to partial shade.
