Acacia myrtifolia, commonly known as the Myrtle Wattle or the Red Stem Wattle, is compact fast growing Acacia that grows as a small shrub from 1 to 2.5m in height and it is a very widespread species found naturally in all Australian states in open forest and heaths with good rainfall.

The sweetly scented cream coloured ball shaped flowers appear in late Winter to Spring and has dark green elliptical phyllodes or leaves from 2 to 5cm in length on reddish stems.
It is a bird attracting species that makes an attractive groundcover where some height is needed and is a low maintenance plant.

As is to be expected with a species with such a huge distribution it is adaptable in cultivation and can take a range of soils from sandy to heavy clay or loam and prefers a fun sun position.
