Acacia maidenii, commonly known as the Maiden's Wattle, is a fast growing tree reaching up to 15m in height occurring naturally from southern QLD to eastern VIC in Australia, usually in coastal situations and higher rainfall areas.

It is very fast growing, growing at a rate of 1m a year and in ideal conditions reaching 1.5m in height in as little as 6 months!

The phyllodes (leaves) are dark green, alternate along the stem and reach 20cm in length and 1 to 3cm in width.

The flowers are pale yellow spikes up to 6cm long that often occur in clusters of 2 to 3 these are then followed by the hairy fruit, about 15cm long and narrow, often becomes coiled.

It prefers full sun and is frost tolerant down to -7°C, but it is not drought tolerant, so irrigation may be necessary in some growing areas.
