A lovely aromatic Wattle that has cream coloured globular flowers that bees love!

This long lived Australian native grows as a small to medium sized tree that grows with an erect or spreading habit with hard grey or brown bark that becomes corrugated or fissured at the base, light green narrowly elliptic foliage that is sickle shaped and up to 20cm long.

Cream coloured globular fruits have a lovely scent and occur in Summer in an axillary raceme 2 - 6cm long.
The leathery or papery seed pods that follow are curved to twisted or coiled and are raised over the seeds 6 - 20cm long x 4 - 7mm wide.

It is tolerant of moderate frost and drought as well as pollution, grows in a wide range of soils and conditions but prefers a full sun position, well drained soil with some supplementary watering in the warmer months.  It is found naturally growing in QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC.

It makes a great tree for coastal plantings, street tree or roadside batters, car parks, revegetation programs, windbreaks, shade tree and bank plantings also attracts birds, bees and other insects.
The foliage was used to dye cloth and make pulp and the wood makes excellent fuelwood.
It has a suckering habit that can be accelerated by root disturbance.
