Xanthorrhoea johnsonii - Queensland Grass Tree - 30 seeds

Commonly known as the Queensland Grass Tree, Xanthorrhoea johnsonii is a trunked Grass Tree that grows to about 4m in its native habitat.  This species is found mainly in the drier areas west of the Great Dividing Range, most frequently on red sandy clay although it has varied plant and soil associations.  
 
Like most Grass Trees these are drought resistant and this one can take some cold being quite accustomed to the often quite intense inland cold they experience in the wild.  
As a species it has little to visually distinguish it from other trunked species and it has the same charm and attractiveness as some of its more commonly seen cousins. 
 
It can take cold and frost down to -7°C. 
It is not picky with its soil type but adapts better than many other Xanthorrhoea species to red soils and subtropical to tropical climates.
