Myrtaceae - no shipment to Western Australia or Tasmania

Round Leaf Tea Tree, Leptospermum rotundifolium, is a medium sized dense shrub growing about 2m in height width, the growth is dense and stiff with long, sweeping branches covering the ground well and tending to curve in various directions.  The small leaves, of neat and crisp appearance, are openly spaced along the branches and they are rounded with pointed tips, smooth and slightly shiny and give off an aromatic perfume like other members of the same family, when bruised.  Flowers are white to deep pink and up to 2.5cm in diameter and occur in spring and early Summer.

With its neat foliage and profusion of flowers it makes a fine feature plant or screen and is one of Australia's best Leptospermum with great potential for hybridisation.  This species is frost hardy, but does not flower well in tropical or subtropical climates.

Leptospermum thrive in a very wide variety of conditions, can be excellent in gusty winds but also thriving in hot dry interior conditions.  They are an excellent cut flower, easy to grow and make good screen plantings and some species are suitable for hedging.
Will grow in any soil as long as it is well drained.
