Eucalyptus melanophloia - Silver Leaved Ironbark - 60 Seeds

Eucalyptus melanophloia, commonly known as the Silver Leaved Ironbark, can be a tall Eucalypt that grows to 20m tall or occasionally a multi-trunked Mallee to 4m and is found naturally from the Mareeba area in North Queensland south to just north from Dubbo in northern New South Wales, with three disjunct populations, one in the Dajarra region south of Mt Isa and another west of Musgrave on Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland and a third from north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
Eucalyptus melanophloia is readily identified by the dark deeply furrowed bark and the glaucous blue, ovate to broadly lanceolate leaves.  It is one of two Ironbark species that are very conspicuous in having a crown of glaucous, round to ovate, opposite, sessile leaves.
Profuse white flowers are produced in late Spring and Summer making it a good honey tree that can produce large quantities of pollen and honey.
With its silvery foliage it makes an attractive small feature tree and is a very useful cut foliage tree
It is generally found on lighter granitic soils and is drought tolerant and frost hardy to - 5°C.
